Build An Altar Of Your Grief
with Ashlie Hempstead, ND
A three part, communal and creative exploration of how grief is held in the body.
In this three part workshop (3/22, 4/26, & 5/17) we'll explore the shape grief has made of you. We'll work slowly to allow time for creative expression to emerge and the standard words we use - like sad or devastated or lost or lonely - to show up, fill with personal meaning, and become actual vessels for the emotions we're needing to express. Then we'll play with how we might explore and communicate these feelings through different mediums.
3/22 - At our first gathering we will use art supplies (nature materials, paints and colors, collage) to create an artistic image that explores a specific theme.
4/26 - Our second will be a somatic/embodiment exploration using imagination, movement and sound.
5/17 - Our third is inspired by narrative medicine principles, using writing prompts as a tool to work with story.
Each workshop will include opening and closing circles in order to come together in community. There will be opportunities (though no requirement) for sharing and reflecting, but the majority of our time will be spent in internal, creative contemplation.
